MEGAN EASTMAN

Megan's love for yoga began after her first class. As she began taking friends and family to the studio, she realized she had not only a love for the practice, but a passion to share, a desire to teach. Five years later, she completed training with Paul Toiluszis and is currently teaching at the Green Monkey Midtown studio.

Megan's classes are taught in a Vinyasa Flow style, that concentrates on alignment and the poses to clear the mind, while focusing on the breathe, to help shift the body into a deeper state of meditation. She believes yoga is relaxation through invigoration. Freedom in routine. Confidence through self control. Energy within and energy without. The classes are designed to challenge and teach her students the art of cultivating this balance during practice, so they can create it on their own after. "Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape."

BILLY CARLINO

After 10 years in the investment banking world of Brickell Ave, Billy Carlino partnered in a small Caribbean-style guest house on South Beach, where he had the good fortune to meet the principals of the RV Heraclitus (rvheraclitus.org) and was invited to participate in an expedition to help monitor the world’s coral reefs and bring global awareness to the health of the rainforests of the sea.

Life on board the Heraclitus caused him to explore the edge of his daily existence, which he expanded upon when he returned to the US by undertaking Paul Toliuszis’ first Teacher Training at Synergy Yoga in Miami Beach. As a long-distance runner, Billy gravitated toward physically demanding styles like Ashtanga and Bikram’s Hot Yoga. He was certified by Bikram himself to teach, and in due course developed a flowing style steeped in both disciplines, designed to be accessible to anyone with an “I can” mentality. Over the years of studying yoga, Billy says “The less I pretend to know, the more loudly the basic postures speak. Each pose is a mini-journey fueled by the breath into the heart of resistance wherein resides the true teacher.”

JASON LAWNER

Jason has been an active athlete his entire life, thriving on the challenge and discipline that physical exercise demands. After years of intense training Jason found himself plagued by nagging injuries that prevented him from competing and training as he was used to. After years of being relegated to wearing a back brace, he rather reluctantly checked out a yoga class as a means of rehab.

After just one yoga class Jason came away with something that he never found in his years of gym training: an overwhelming sense of wellbeing. Since then he’s never looked back. Having first-hand experience of the body’s incredible capacity to heal itself quickly by applying The Universal Principles of Alignment® taught in Anusara Yoga®, Jason is proof of the resilience of the human spirit and the healing power of yoga. He has studied extensively with John Friend, the founder of Anusara Yoga®, as well as with Tantric Scholar, Dr. Douglas Brooks.

Jason is known for his passion, enthusiasm, and clarity as a teacher. In his classes students are playfully challenged and inspired to engage their innate greatness, ultimately delighting more fully in the limitless splendor of life.

ALYCIA KOZAK

My desire to teach is owed to my very first yoga teacher who took my fast moving New York state of mind and slowed it way down. His happiness, technique, dedication and warmth inspired me to share the practice. I wanted other people to feel the way I felt when I stepped out of his class which was physically stronger and emotionally lighter. In 2009, I began teaching Vinyasa Yoga-and with every class I teach- it is my hope to challenge each person to find an individual edge, break some boundaries -and also to find a collective rhythm as a class-sharing our personal goals, motivations and practice with one another.
