Thoughts From Big Monkey: The Great Outdoors
By Myk Likhov, Green Monkey Co-Founder
Let′s talk great outdoors. So many of us live in big cities, have big city jobs, and engage in big city thinking. Leaving the big city and enjoying nature is especially important for people like that. Luckily, in most cities big and small, there are opportunities to get outside and enjoy our world. Miami is a complete playground for those of us who love water and sun, New York has Central Park, and even LA has hundreds of miles of hiking trails. If you live in Asheville, well...there’s probably a reason that you moved there.
At Green Monkey, we are aware of the balancing act that each of us is living; between work, health, family, relationships, and of course, fun. We’d just like to point out that enjoyment of outdoors/nature/Mother Earth/whatever-you-want-to-call-it helps you with that balancing act by grounding you in the present (which is a very good thing). When you′re in the present, you′re much more engaged in all your activities, in tune with yourself, and in fact, happier. So if you haven’t thought about it in this way, time with nature helps you with all your other stuff. It′s true.
In short, the point of this note is simply to remind you to enjoy whatever slice of sunshine is closest to you. Sometimes we need a reminder that, to live in balance, each of us needs to feel connected to ourselves, to others, and also to our Earth.
